Advanced Myofascial Release (AMR)

If you’re dealing with chronic pain, tension that just won’t release, or limited range of motion, Advanced Myofascial Release (AMR) offers a solution that targets the root of the problem.

AMR is a specialized, hands-on therapy that focuses on releasing restrictions in fascia – the connective tissue that surrounds and supports your muscles, bones, and organs.

Using a combination of manual therapy, movement, and Functional Range Release (FRR) techniques, AMR works to free areas of tension, promote healing, and improve mobility.

Benefits of Advanced Myofascial Release:

  • Relieves chronic pain and tension by addressing restricted fascia
  • Improves range of motion, postural alignment, and overall mobility
  • Supports recovery from overuse injuries and chronic conditions
  • Promotes better sleep and boosts immune function
  • Combines manual therapy with guided movement for lasting results
What Makes Advanced Myofascial Release Different From Other Fascia Release Therapies?

AMR goes beyond surface-level treatment. It combines manual therapy, guided breathing, and range-of-motion techniques to release fascial restrictions, address nervous system imbalances, and promote deeper healing.

Who Is AMR Ideal For?
Anyone can benefit, but AMR is particularly helpful for individuals with:

  • Chronic pain or injuries
  • Limited mobility or range of motion
  • Tension that hasn’t responded to other therapies
  • Repetitive-use injuries or overuse discomfort
Why Is Fascia So Important?

Fascia is the connective tissue that surrounds your muscles, bones, and organs, creating a supportive network throughout your body.

When fascia becomes tight or restricted, it can pull on other areas, much like a snag in a sweater, causing pain, tension, and imbalance. AMR helps release these restrictions and restore balance.

Assisted Stretching

Whether you’re feeling stiff, recovering from an injury, or simply want to move with more freedom, Assisted Stretching offers a targeted solution to rebalance your body and keep your muscles healthy.

Unlike stretching on your own, this hands-on therapy allows your muscles to stay relaxed during movement, helping the muscle fibers elongate more effectively for a deeper, more lasting stretch.

By addressing tension and improving mobility across the entire body, Assisted Stretching helps reduce pain, prevent imbalances, and restore ease to your everyday movements.

Benefits of Assisted Stretching:

  • Improves flexibility and range of motion
  • Reduces muscle tension and stiffness
  • Rebalances the body to address pain and prevent injury
  • Enhances recovery and supports healthy muscle tissue
  • Targets specific areas or offers a full-body sequence for greater mobility
Should I Book Assisted Stretching As An Add-On Or A Full Session?

Add-On: Perfect for when you need targeted relief for a specific area. Add Assisted Stretching to any massage session for deeper results.

Full Session: A full-body stretch treatment allows your therapist to address not only your main areas of concern but also improve mobility throughout the body. Lack of mobility in one area often contributes to imbalances or pain elsewhere.

How Does Assisted Stretching Work?
Your therapist will guide your body through controlled stretches while keeping your muscles relaxed. This allows for deeper elongation of the muscle fibers than you can achieve on your own, promoting better movement and reducing tension.
Who Is Assisted Stretching Ideal For?

Anyone can benefit! Assisted Stretching is particularly helpful for those:

  • Experiencing stiffness or reduced flexibility
  • Recovering from injuries or dealing with chronic tension
  • Wanting to improve overall mobility and prevent imbalances
  • Looking for assistance due to disabilities or impaired mobility

“While visiting family in Boise, I pinched something in my upper back – most likely the combination of a strenuous tennis match and a terrible hotel bed. …After 90 minutes with David, I walked out of the massage with minimal pain. …excellent ability to pin point the issue in my scapula and work out the tension… I’d highly recommend David for those with sports or similar injuries for help regaining range of motion!

“I recently had a massage with Elyssa, and it was truly the best massage experience I’ve ever had. Elyssa took a whole-body approach, going beyond the typical routine to address my specific needs. She seamlessly combined stretching with massage to work on problem areas, which was incredibly effective and thoughtful. …If you’re looking for a massage that goes above and beyond, I can’t recommend Elyssa and Whole Being Massage enough. It was an experience I’ll definitely return for!”

“I had my first treatment with Jason and it was so helpful! I have been dealing with thoracic back pain for almost two years, and Jason was able to identify the primary reason for that pain. He gave me a plan of action for strengthening the muscles that appear to be causing the problem, plus he made me feel so much better right away!

“…The massage I got exceeded all my expectations. David was such a pro, he was able to address some longer term tension issues and was able to loosen up my neck and shoulders so I could get some better blood flow to my head. This will be a definite stop the next time I’m in town… Highly recommend.”

“Jason thoroughly explained the possible causes for developing my problem areas and he also provided me with ways I can help maintain at home. My massage was the best massage I’ve ever had and the first time I’ve finally felt some noticeable relief after attempting to fix this problem for the past year. It felt motivating for me to finally receive some specific potential explanations and ways to work on my hip issues at home.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Advanced Myofascial Release vs. Release and Restore?

While both target the root of chronic pain and can address problem areas due to repetition, the approach of these therapies is very different.

Advanced Myofascial Release treatments utilize techniques focused on releasing the connective tissue (fascia) that surrounds muscles, tissues, and bones. During AMR, your therapist will apply gentle, constant pressure to find and release trigger points, or knots, in the fascia that are often limiting movement and causing pain.

Release and Restore is an advanced deep tissue massage that blends a variety of therapies and techniques (incl. myofascial release, trigger point therapy, cupping, hot/cold therapy, and much more). This treatment works to correct muscle imbalances long-term that are often a result of the repetitive nature of your job, life, or sport.

Is A Specialty Service Right For You?

Our sports massage therapy sessions are highly specialized services that leave your body feeling relaxed as chronic pain and unhealthy muscle patterns in the body are released. However, due to the deep pressure work or active stretching, we wouldn’t recommend these services if you’re looking for a session focused on relaxation or stress relief.

Refer to the individual service details above to determine if a specialty treatment service is right for you or call us anytime. We’re happy to help you select the perfect treatment for your visit.

Can I Talk During A Specialty Sports Massage Therapy Session?

Absolutely! We always encourage you to ask any questions if you’re curious or speak up if anything needs to be adjusted.

For our specialty services, your practitioner will ask for feedback at various times during your session, as communication is an important component in these treatments.
