Customized massages for all ages

Our therapists work with you and your child to customize a massage session that’s just right for your kid.

Additionally, they provide holistic tools, such as breathing and stretches, to help your child deal with day-to-day anxiety and physical discomfort.

Age 14 and older

For kids 14 and older, we recommend a regular 60-minute therapeutic massage.

Age 6-13

For children under 14, sessions are generally 30-45 minutes with a parent or guardian present in the room during treatment.

Age 5 and under

For children under 5, one option is for them to come in with a parent receiving a massage and then receive a 15-minute session of their own afterward.

Please ask us about these options!

Massage supports your child’s unique developmental needs

Children and even teenagers are not simply “mini-adults.”

From infancy through adolescence, children undergo significant physical and emotional changes. Their bones, brain, muscles, connective tissues, and nervous system aren’t fully developed until the age of 25 – making them prone to certain injuries (such as joint dislocation) and emotional sensitivity.

Massage has shown numerous physical, emotional, psychological, and behavioral benefits for kids during these developmental years:

  • Support healthy nervous system development
  • Address tension patterns and fascial restrictions (early on)
  • Help prevent chronic musculoskeletal/postural issues
  • Improve Joint Mobility & Muscle Tone
  • Promote Deep Relaxation
  • Reduce Touch Hypersensitivity
  • Improve Focus & Attention Span
  • Improve Long-Term Emotional & Cognitive Development
  • Improve Body Image & Self-Esteem
  • And so much more!

Lymph Drainage Therapy is also a great option for kids and can be incorporated into any pediatric treatment session. It can help with allergies, skin irritations, headaches, frequent colds or sinus infections, and digestive issues.

Our goal is to help protect the delicate years in your child’s growth (physically and emotionally) and hope to inspire a lifetime of healthy habits and practices.

Introducing your child to massage and self-care at an early age can help set the foundation for a healthy lifestyle.

“I traveled to Boise for my son’s wrestling tournament. He was tight and sore so I booked him a massage with Gwen at Whole Being Massage. He loved it and couldn’t stop talking about how great she was. My son did great at the tourney, lol. I scheduled one with her too. Honestly, it was one of the best I’ve ever had.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Adult vs Kids Or Teen Massage? What’s The Difference?

The main difference between adult and pediatric massage lies in the techniques used and the specific considerations taken for the age and developmental stage of the client. Pediatric massage is typically gentler, focuses on nurturing touch, and promotes relaxation.

Your therapist may also use play and other techniques to help your child feel comfortable and engaged during the session.

Pediatric massage therapists at Whole Being Massage in Boise are trained to adapt their techniques to your child’s unique physical and emotional needs. This may include shorter sessions, modified positioning, and specialized techniques to address specific conditions or concerns.

Is There An Age Requirement For Therapeutic Pediatric Massage?

Pediatric massage treatments at Whole Being Massage are specifically designed for ages 1 and older.

Will I Be In The Room While My Child Receives A Massage?

Yes. For children under the age of 14, we ask that a parent or guardian remain in the room during your child’s massage.

Can I Talk During My Child’s Massage Session?

Absolutely. We always encourage you to ask questions and communicate with us. We also want your child to feel excited about coming in for a massage, therefore, we tailor each pediatric session to create an inviting and engaging space your child feels comfortable in.
